THE PROBLEM

Getting people to drink more water and educating them on how to make it taste better.
The idea for the water tracking application came from a casual conversation about how phones can remind you of everything. From our survey we discovered that although people know they need water they don't drink water.
We wanted to know why, why they didn't consume water, what their relationship with water currently is, do they prefer a certain type (cold, room temperature, distilled, spring, etc.).

This project is the first group assignment during our boot camp and was given a tight deadline to be fully executed.

MAKE OF THE TEAM
Myself and 1 other designer
KEY GOAL
Increase water consumption and improve the taste of water.
MY ROLE

Lead UX Writer, Co- UX Researcher and Designer
Solo Responsibilities: Created application text, Wire Framing, Prototyping, User Flow, created and established User Personas, Scenario Design drafted Case Study.

Collaborative Efforts: Case Study presentation, final draft of Prototype, Brainstorming features for the application, Quantitative and Qualitative research.

UNDERSTANDING THE USER
I am NOT the User.
Key Findings:

-
Users who don't live active lifestyles don't consume the daily minimum required amount.
-
Users who are more active would love more information on water infusion recipes.
-
Users who are trying to consume more water would like reminders during the day to drink water.

Challenges
People who are active don't need reminders to use the application.
How might we make the application more useful for users who already consume enough water?

We added new features!
Our researched proved that users that consume regular amounts of water would love to improve the taste. Adding a water infusion recipe feature gave users different additives to reach their health goals.

BREAKING DOWN THE PROCESS
"I need a smarter way to transition
to a healthier lifestyle."
It started with research our surveys gave us a starting point to know what questions to ask in the interviews, from research we began testing and iteration, during definition and ideation we began to play around with the ideas of different features to add in potential users with an active background. The user testing allowed us to finalize our prototype and solidify features.

User Flow Analysis

THESE WERE SOME MAJOR LEARNINGS OR POINTS WE WANTED TO CALL OUT
Feedback from research
The feedback we received from the interviews showed us that by adding water infusion recipes to the app users were more likely to increase and or continue consuming more water and live healthier lives.
Adding more features
The water challenge feature creates fun and a sense of community with other users on the app.

Adding water infusion recipes educated the users on how to reach their health goals and improve the taste of water. We set the recipes under the goals of Detox, Immune Builder, and Energy Builder.
Future Developments
-
Integrating with other health apps
-
Users rating the water infusion recipes
-
More positive affirmations once the goal is met or attempting to be met

TITLE OF THE CALLOUT BLOCK
LESSONS LEARNED
"I drink water because it's healthy, but I'm not sure of all it's benefits."
We created an effective water tracking application that does more than track your daily intake of water. This application encourages, suggests additives and provides a sense of community for other users to enjoy.
H2yO has found an effective method to increase water intake for any user.Things we would like to add to the application are more facts and update the different water infusion options on a regular basis.
We’d like to add a feature that allows for users to discuss or rate their experience with different flavors and if it helped their goal or just tasted better.
